Interactive Communications

Atlas and the Hesperides (1925) by John Singer Sargent (Wikimedia Commons). A fantasy photograph of Atlas by Arthur Tress was the brand icon of Becker Multimedia, Inc. My tag line was “Reach what you cannot!” a mantra from Report to Greco (1961) by Nikos Kazantzakis. As a producer of empowerment media, my core values were aspiration and personal responsibility for outcomes.

After leaving academia in 1985 I learned concepts and techniques of interactive design as an employee of three small companies in Atlanta. In 1994 at the behest of the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games, I founded Becker Multimedia, Inc. in order to research and develop the Final Report of the 1996 Olympic Games

It was a heady time for practitioners of interactive design. Becker Multimedia was soon engaged by several large corporations in various industries and by universities for projects, mainly management and employee training and corporate communications; in the latter area I made breakaway programs of internal or employer branding.

Becker Multimedia continued to operate for over twenty years. In 2016, I followed my passion for training simulations to found Humaginarium LLC, a video game startup that tried to produce interactive health and science education for patients with chronic illnesses. Interesting concept for the beleaguered healthcare industry, but it failed to attract capital. When I closed it in 2022, that marked the effective end of Becker Multimedia as a media producer.

Becker Multimedia today is a sole proprietorship offering advisory services. Discrete ad hoc services are tied to my intellectual strengths and professional skills. Rather than making turnkey products on a work-for-hire basis, Becker Multimedia is a consultancyshadowing my full-time commitment to George Moore Interactive.
